Short answer

Weekly balance shows the variety in the week you've planned in Chop it: how many different plants it has, and where it lands for fibre and protein. It used to be called the Weekly Diversity Score. It reads the recipes on your plan and changes when the plan does. It's a guide to variety, not a health score.

What it measures

It reads the week you've planned, not anything you log.

Plants. The number of different plant foods across the week's recipes. Herbs, spices, nuts and grains each count, the same way the 30-plants-a-week idea counts them. Five dinners that all lean on onion, tomato and wheat read as narrow, however good each one is.

Fibre and protein. Where the planned week lands on each, worked out from each recipe's macros.

The whole week, not the day. One dinner moves it a little. The shape of the week moves it a lot, which is how eating varies in a real household.

The screen shows a ring for protein, fibre and plants, a status for each, and every dinner with its plant count.

What it isn't

It isn't a health assessment, and the screen says so: it's a guide to nutritional variety, not medical advice. It doesn't diagnose anything, track your body or promise outcomes. The nutrition figures behind it are estimates, as the terms say.

We stopped at variety because it's the one thing a planning app can read honestly from recipes. Going further would mean claiming to know things about you that a meal plan doesn't contain.

How it fits the rest of the app

It reads This Week, so anything that changes the plan changes the balance: a recipe from your library, one from Make me a recipe (how AI recipes work), or a Plan my week pick. A week saved from Chop it in ChatGPT can become This Week too, and it's read the same way.

On Pro, Improve this week suggests changes that would raise the score. A run costs 1 credit, and only if it finds something. You choose what to apply, and you can skip or undo any of them.

Quick answers

  • Is Weekly balance the same as the Weekly Diversity Score?
Yes. It’s the same feature under a new name, and you may still see the old name in the screen’s small print.
  • Does Weekly balance change my plan?
No. It only reads the plan. Nothing changes unless you change it, or choose to apply a suggestion from Improve this week.
  • Are the fibre and protein figures exact?
No. They’re estimates worked out from the recipes, as our terms say. They’re good enough to show the shape of a week, not to count what you eat.
