Short answer

Chop it now gives smaller UK food businesses their own recipe and meal-planning app. That covers veg, fish, meat and dairy boxes, and meal-kit start-ups. It's the Chop it app in your name, logo, colours and recipes, on iPhone and the web, with Android from October 2026. We've spent over a year building it for UK kitchens, and you don't need a development team to launch it.

Why smaller food businesses get left out

The biggest meal-kit companies have their own apps. They pay in-house teams to build them, and they keep paying to keep them working. A custom app takes about a year to build before a single customer opens it. If you run an independent veg box or a two-person meal-kit start-up, that's out of reach.

So the best tools for planning a week of home cooking end up with the market leaders. Everyone else makes do with recipe cards and emails.

The alternative is an app built for somewhere else. Several of the best-known meal planners were made in the US for US kitchens: recipes in cups, cilantro on the shopping list and a supermarket that isn't on any British high street. Your customers notice.

We think a good independent supplier deserves the same tools as the biggest names, built for the kitchens their customers actually cook in.

What "built for a UK kitchen" means

In a UK kitchenIn Chop it
Grams, millilitres and a 400g tinEvery recipe is metric, with tins and packs as you buy them
Courgettes, coriander and spring onionsBritish ingredient names in the recipe and on the shopping list
What's in season hereRecipes are ranked with the UK season in mind, without hiding the rest
The weekly shopOne shopping list with duplicates merged and what's in the cupboard taken off
Recipes from everywhereImports from websites, cookbooks and social video are rewritten in British English and UK metric, with the source credited

What your customers get

It's the Chop it app, wearing your brand:

  • Your name, logo, colours and recipes first, on iPhone, Android (from October 2026) and the web.
  • Over 1,300 recipes to use as they are or tailor, alongside your own.
  • For a food box: snap the box when it lands, plan a few dinners around it and shop only for the gaps.
  • For a meal kit: step-by-step cooking for each kit, and ideas for the nights the kit doesn't cover.
  • Chop it in ChatGPT on the same account, for planning a week in conversation.

The recipe database knows which ingredients dishes share, so a week can be planned to use up what's in the box rather than leave half a celeriac in the fridge.

There's more on what it looks like for food box suppliers and meal-kit companies.

Do you need developers?

No. We set it up from our templates and keep it running. You bring your brand, your recipes and your sign-off. You can be testing your own version in 30 days or less.

Because it's one platform, you don't pay for a year of development, and keeping the app running isn't your job: hosting, updates and maintenance are in the monthly fee. Every new Chop it feature reaches your customers as it ships. That's why it costs a fraction of a custom build. Both packages and their prices are public on our partners page.

What it doesn't do

We don't supply food, take orders or handle payments. Your shop and checkout stay as they are, and the app links to them. Connecting to your ordering or subscription system is quoted separately.

We also won't promise you a number. Fewer skipped boxes and less waste are what we'd measure with you in a pilot, not what we'd claim up front.
